While much of the world expresses its solidarity with the Ukrainian people and their admiration for Jewish president Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the general public receives little context for the country’s rich but often horrifying Jewish history. To address that imbalance Kolot Mayim Reform Temple is pleased to present the eminent scholar of Eastern European Jewish history, Professor Elissa Bemporad, for a December 4, 11 am (PST) Zoom lecture on ‘History is Not Destiny: Thoughts about the Russian War against Ukraine and the Jewish Past in the Region. Professor Bemporad is a widely published historian and Professor at Queens College and the Graduate Center – CUNY.
