We are making plans with members of Kolot Mayim to ensure all services and events will run smoothly in my absence during July, when I will be on holiday. Members are stepping up in all manner of ways, and I know everything will run smoothly. If needs be, I can be contacted, but otherwise we have good hands taking care of matters. I will be providing information regarding contacts later in June, if people have questions about membership, services, etc.
This past Shabbat was very special. Devorah Gillard read Torah with us for her first time reading at Kolot Mayim. Devorah also gave a very thought provoking and touching d’var. And then we said goodbye to Carolyn Canny, who is moving to Calgary to be near her daughter. We will miss Carolyn dearly, and we all wish her well in this coming journey, both of life and geography.
Shavuot is coming very soon – June 1st and 2nd. We have exceptional timing this year, as having started meeting Monday mornings for minyan we can hold a Shavuot Festival service that same morning. This is a holiday of great joy. Shuls were often decorated with greenery and roses, sometimes papercuts of roses, or roiselekh. See: https://thecjn.ca/opinion/perspectives/shavuot-paper-cutting/ And here is a link if you would like to try your hand at making roiselekh: https://bimbam.com/jewish-papercuts/
Gratitude:
Where to begin? I am especially grateful to Board members who work hard to ensure that our kehillah is well run, and well organized. I am particularly grateful to Stephen Larre who is stepping back a bit as his actual work life is very demanding right now. Stephen has provided a rudder of leadership as our treasurer over these past few years. Morris Bleviss is picking up some of the tasks to give Stephen some breathing room, and so much gratitude is extended to Morris as well. Thank you, both.
Am Yisroel Chai. Please come to the Rally for Israel on May 25th at 3 pm, lawn of the Legislature.
Wishing all long life, healthy life, a good life,
With deep love,
Rabbi Lynn
